ACT South West (UK) operates in affiliation with HEART'S TONGUE THEATRE COMPANY, whose aim is to reurn to Theatre in it's simplest form. www.heartstongue.co.uk

Heart's Tongue's next project is to produce a night of SHORT SHRIFTS by Peter Oswald (co-director of Heart's Tongue and until recently resident writer at the GLOBE in London) SHORT SHRIFTS is an utterly bizarre collection of word plays, exploring psychological warfare in the form of comedy sketches or mini human tradgedies with no obvious connection.... for which we will be needing a group of flexible performers.

ACT South West (UK) also runs SCREENS (FLM ACTING) Courses for Professional and Personal development through Film at the Exeter PHOENIX Media Centre www.exeterphoenix.org.uk

"One of the most obvious psychological roots of theatrical performance is that of PLAY. All mammals, especially advanced primates, like to explore the environment around them, exercise innate skills and test the limits of their own physical and mental capacities. The survival advantage of such an instinctual tendency is self-evident." Origons of Performance (Wilson 1994:17)

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SAY ABOUT THE WORKOUTS

"I search for something like this in London and was utterly dissapointed ... so now I'm back down in Devon and can't wait to get started again."

"I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your views, assistance, energy and passion. I feel that what ever I am supposed to be doing in life, this is certainly part of it ... where I am actually going with it I don't know, not that it really matters ... I have been so impressed with everyone's speedy development, and I have learnt more with you, than I did in two years at drama school, and that is down to you! There is a huge amount I could still learn from you, so I really look forward to [the weekly classes]! "
